AMELIA, La. (BRPROUD) — One person was arrested, and another is on the run after a pursuit in Assumption Parish on Wednesday, Nov. 15. Sam Mykal Rosette, 19, of Morgan City was arrested and deputies are still looking for Colby Tyree Nicholas, 23, of Patterson, La.

The pursuit took place on U.S. 90 after the vehicle the duo was in refused to comply with a request for a traffic stop by a deputy. The request was made after a traffic violation, according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office. The pursuit made its way into St. Mary Parish before Rosette and Nicholas got out of the vehicle and tried to run away.

After his capture, Rosette was booked into Assumption Parish Detention Center and charged with these crimes:

  • possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • resisting an officer

As of the publishing of this article, bond has not been set for the Morgan City man. APSO said they were able to seize “multiple packages of suspected marijuana.” They confirmed that “approximately 4 pounds” was seized by deputies.

Nicholas was the driver of the vehicle. APSO listed his charges below:

  • possession with intent to distribute marijuana
  • aggravated flight from an officer
  • resisting an officer
  • driving under a suspended driver’s license
  • failure to drive on right side of roadway
  • speeding – 84 mph/ 70 mph
