PLATTENVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Thibodaux man was arrested after a routine traffic stop on LA Spur 70 in Assumption Parish.
On Saturday morning, a patrol deputy spotted a vehicle with an equipment violation and began the traffic stop, according to a post from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle stopped and the deputy made contact with the driver, who was identified as William Walter Durocher III, 42.
After an interview with Durocher, the deputy performed a walk-around inspection of the vehicle. The sheriff’s office said that during the inspection, the deputy discovered meth in the vehicle.
The sheriff’s office reports that the deputy proceeded to search the vehicle and found three handguns, multiple doses of lysergic acid (LSD), suspected marijuana, multiple doses of Gabapentin and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Durocher was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of LSD, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, three counts of illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, sale and distribution or possession of a legend drug without a prescription or order, possession of drug paraphernalia and tail lights required.
Durocher remains incarcerated with a bond amount of $375,000.
