A man had to be airlifted to a hospital, and two others were injured after a boating accident Saturday afternoon, according to the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Lt. Sean Green says the accident happened on Bayou Sorrel just before 4 p.m.
Green believes two boats collided near the Shell Oil field channel, and the impact of the crash left one boat on top of the other.
“One vessel that was exiting the oil field he entered a hard turn, and veered to the left hand side of the channel, he contacted another vessel that had two occupants, both collided, we had two passengers from the vessel entering the oil field ejected from their vessel,” said LT. Green.
Green says the husband and wife ejected from their boat were wearing life-jackets and suffered minor to moderate injuries.
While the man seriously hurt suffered a major head injury, but he is expected to survive.
He was taken to Our Lady of the Lake and his condition is not known at this time.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the LDWF.
