BATON ROUGE, La. (BRProud) — A small group of community members are preparing for a special cook-out Saturday at the Baton Rouge Police Department, in support of law enforcement officers. The event, hosted by Channing Lane and Landon Weber, is intended to be a show of support for “our men and women in blue during this pivotal moment in history,” according to a statement.

Lane said a GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for the cost of food, which will be provided to law enforcement at no cost. At the time this article was published, $280 of a $1,500 goal had been raised. Lane said he intends to donate any leftover money raised and all leftover food will be sold and that money donated as well.

Organizers intend to start setting up at 9 a.m. and are looking for volunteers to assist. The lunch give-away for officers begins at noon on July 25.

There will also be a food truck on-site Death Valley Sweets and Treats, to give-away free ice cream and snow cones to first responders.
