BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – The family of 49-year-old Sherell Weston is inviting members of the public to join them in a gathering that will honor the late mother of three and respected funeral director.

Police say Weston lost her life when 22-year-old Darrien Rogers allegedly led officers on a high-speed chase and crashed into Weston.

According to a social media post from Weston’s family, a balloon release will be held Tuesday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Stadium (1750 Foss St, Baton Rouge).

The family asks that those who would like to join the family in honoring Weston bring a balloon that reflects the colors they’ll be using, which are orange, green, and yellow.

In the post, a family member said, “We appreciate all of the love we’ve been getting, if you would like to support us in showing respect and gratitude to Sherell for all she has done for us we kindly appreciate the support.”
