BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Lawmakers announced $12 million is going to East Baton Rouge Parish for Hurricane Ida-related costs.

Senator John Kennedy and Senator Bill Cassidy said $12,312,207 in funding will go toward debris removal operations.

“The folks in East Baton Rouge Parish have worked hard to recover from the blow that Hurricane Ida dealt them. This $12 million will help make the community whole and cover the costs for moving debris after the storm,” said Kennedy.

“Louisianans are resilient,” said Cassidy. “This funding will help Baton Rouge communities continue to recover and help families get back on their feet.”

Hurricane Ida made landfall on the southern coast of Louisiana as a category-four storm on August 29, 2021.
