BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) ––– The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many businesses to close, but this Valentine’s Day, Baton Rouge bakeries are feeling the love.
Sarah Joy Hays, the owner of Counter Space Br, says she’s “really grateful for the customers who’ve made it a point to pursue us and to share our treats with their friends and family.”
There is plenty of love to go around this Valentine’s Day though, Robyn Selde, the owner of Cupcake Junkie, says they have reached their goals daily leading up to the holiday.
Valentine’s Day is not the only holiday celebrated this weekend, with Mardi Gras right around the corner, bakeries who sell king cakes are seeing a boost in business. Hays says she expects them to sell at least 1,000 king cakes by the end of the year.
If you’re looking to get a sweet treat for your sweetheart, you may want to act fast. Selde warns, “Valentine’s day falls on a Sunday and most bakeries in the city are closed on Sundays, myself included.”
For those experiencing a time crunch, there is no need to stress. Both bakeries offer several desserts and packages that ready to give to your Valentine.
