Baton Rouge Ballet Theater holds auditions for bayou themed “The Nutcracker”

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) Baton Rouge Ballet Theater announced the auditions for a bayou themed production of the iconic ballet performance, “The Nutcracker”, at the River Center Theater for the Performing Arts on Sep. 12.

“The Nutcracker – A Tale from the Bayou” is set to be performed from Dec. 18-19.

Boys and girls ages eight and above can audition for all children’s roles available with any levels of dance ability. 

Eight year old’s must be turning eight by Dec. 31.

Dancers are asked to arrive 15 minutes early to their age group’s start time listed below:

12 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. – boys who are eight years old and up

12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. – girls who are eight years old

1:30 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. – girls who are nine years old

2:30 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. – girls who are 10 years old

3:15 p.m. – 4:00 – girls who are 11-12 years old

The ballet theater has also announced a new program that will give scholarships to cover all fees and expenses in association with the production, but a limited number of the awards are available.
