BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Blues Festival scheduled to take place on Sept. 18 was canceled due to the recent COVID surge.

Baton Rouge Blues Festival & Foundation members made a video announcement explaining their reasons for canceling.

“We had to make this decision with public safety issues of our musicians, our vendors, volunteers, partners, and more importantly, you — our loyal attendees,” said Board Chair Bill Bryan.

The festival is now scheduled to happen April 23-14, 2022.

The foundation encourages the public to support musicians slated to perform by visiting batonrougebluesfestival.org. Foundation member John Gray suggests giving musicians a follow on social media, listening to their music or donating.

“If there’s anybody that knows about the blues during this past year and a half, it’s our local musicians,” said Gray.
