BATON ROUGE, La. (NBC Local 33) (FOX 44) — Louisiana Craft Beer Week is a week-long celebration of craft breweries throughout the state. It kicks-off Monday, Sept. 23 and runs through Sunday, Sept. 29.
Throughout the week, local breweries release special batches of brew and hold events to engage people on the brew-making process.
Tin Roof Brewing Co. held a special pregame celebration just before the LSU football match-up against Vanderbilt today. The brewery released a draft-only beer, A Pint of Bread Doppelbock as a part of the festivities.
Southern Craft Brewing Co. will have live music, food, ‘Beer Olympics,’ and a selection of new brews on tap on Sept. 28. The event also coincides with Oktoberfest and kicks-off at 1 p.m. at their brewhouse, 14141 Airline Hwy.
Keep your eyes peeled for Cypress Coast Brewing Co. which has yet to officially open its doors. We anticipate they’ll be a part of Louisiana Craft Beer Week 2020. In the meantime, you can join their Founder’s Club to stay abreast of the latest developments.
Abita Brewing Company, arguably the Pelican State’s “King of Beer,” released a new low carb, low calorie IPA Hop 99. A press release says the brew is “designed to keep the craft taste but significantly reduce the guilt.” The light IPA has 99 calories and 2.7 carbohydrates.
The Covington-based brewery will host a variety of special events throughout the week. Check out their Facebook page for details.
If you are up for the drive, Great Raft Brewing in Shreveport will also host a variety of events, samplings and releases.
In case you can’t find time to sneak away for Louisiana Craft Beer Week, the 6th annual ‘Brew at the Zoo‘ will be held Oct. 4. The craft beer tasting event features live music and more than 200 craft beers from local, regional and national breweries. It also gives good reason to continue supporting local craft breweries who want a piece of the pie inside Tiger Stadium.
