BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A 61-year-old doctor from Baton Rouge was sentenced to a year and a half in jail on Thursday.

Gray Wesley Barrow was sentenced “for his role in a scheme to receive approximately $336,000 in illegal health care kickback payments,” according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Barrow was a co-owner of Louisiana Spine & Sports LLC and for around two and a half years, the local doctor took part in a scheme involving a drug testing laboratory.

The U.S. Department of Justice stated that “Barrow agreed to send urine specimens collected from his patients to a drug testing laboratory in return for an unlawful kickback calculated as a percentage of the reimbursements paid to the laboratory by Medicare and other health care benefit programs.”

John Eastham Clark was also a co-owner of Louisiana Spine & Sports LLC and the 66-year-old was sentenced to 37 months in prison back in 2019.
