BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — While surrounding parishes are going through wildfires, Baton Rouge Fire department has been in high-demand.

Public Information Officer for Baton Rouge, Justin Hill, says the local fire department is focused on helping those in need, especially when it comes to the wildfires in surrounding parishes.

“These wildfires and the challenges that we’re facing now are just a different form of challenges that we face in the past,” Hill said.  “We’re actually sending some of our employees out to help in some of those areas that are facing some challenges. We sent some crews up the Sabine Parish up there to help out. And we just last night we sent some to Beauregard Parish to help out with the fires there.”

When asked in regards to shortages, Hill says BRFD is not experiencing any unlike surrounding areas.

“So the residents of East Baton Rouge Parish are receiving the same fire protection that they always have been. There is no shortage in the fire department here in East Baton Rouge Parish.”
