Baton Rouge Fire Department revisits house fire, investigators determine the cause of fire

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A family of four were able to escape a 1-alarm house fire early Tuesday morning.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department arrived at 5475 Paige St. at 3:37 a.m. to find fire coming from the outside of the home.

BRFD was able to contain the fire in about 10 minutes, however firefighters were called out once more after the fire started up again.

Fire investigators said that “the fire rekindled around 9 a.m but firefighters were able to quickly douse the flames.”

Damages to the home are estimated to be $30,000 and none of the family members sustained injuries.

BRPD says, investigators concluded that the cause of the fire was arson.

BRPD, EMS, Entergy and Red Cross assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.
