BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Baton Rouge Fire Department is still in Grand Isle helping local response teams re-build the city in Jefferson Parish after being destroyed by Hurricane Ida.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department Incident Management Team has been assisting Jefferson Parish officials on the ground since Sept. 16. On Saturday, Oct. 2, BRFD sent two fire engines, nine responders, and a chief’s unit to help respond to emergency calls, according to an official press release.

BRFD said that Grand Isle is in need of water and is struggling with a lack of equipment. Grand Isle was one of many cities in southeastern Louisiana that were affected by the category 4 hurricane that hit in late August.
