Baton Rouge Fire Dept. charge woman with simple arson following vacant house fire

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Baton Rouge Fire Department (BRFD) responded to a vacant house fire on Tuesday and made contact with a woman who admitted to starting the fire.

Firefighters were called to the vacant home at the 200 block of E. Johnson Street. They entered the home and found a mattress in flames. BRFD says that firefighters made contact with 36-year-old Wauneka Corbin at the scene who told them she was staying in the house and she started the fire.

A fire investigator was called out and took Corbin into custody. She is charged with criminal trespass and simple arson.
