BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The East Baton Rouge Parish Library held an event Saturday called “The Sounds of Science: A Celebration of the Creation of the Universe”.

The event was collaboratively developed with the library, LSU’s School of Music, LSU’s Department of Physics and Science, the Manship Communications Department and LaSPACE.

Kids were able to get hands-on experience while learning more about the solar system. Staff members used things like coloring, memory games and different sounds to keep children entertained while learning.

The director of the Louisiana Space Consortium, John P. Wefel, said it’s all about bringing science to the community

LaSPACE is familiar with the community. They fund over 40 different projects annually across Louisiana, including faculty research programs with awards for graduate and undergraduate students.

Live demonstrations were the highlight as people got to see and understand how science works. The event ended with a special panel discussion and a musical performance.
