A 25-year-old Baton Rouge man died on Sunday afternoon after his vehicle ran a red light.
The fatal crash happened around 4 p.m. on April 1 in the 800 block of Eddie Robinson Sr. Dr.
Sgt. Don Coppola, Jr., of the BRPD said the crash involved two vehicles, a 2018 Nissan Rogue and a Honda 4-wheeler.
According to Coppola, Jr., a Baton Rouge Police Department investigation showed that the Nissan was traveling east on South Blvd when it drove through the Eddie Robinson Sr. intersection on a green light.
While the Nissan traveled through the green light, a Honda, driven by Stewart Granger, Jr., of 1824 Missouri Street drove through a red light at the South Blvd. intersection.
Coppola, Jr. said after passing though the red light, Granger’s Honda struck the left front of the Nissan, forcing it to strike a wooden utility pole.
Granger sustained injuries as a result of the collision and was sent to a local hospital where he later died.
The BRPD said no one in the Nissan suffered injuries because of the crash and the investigation is ongoing.
