Baton Rouge Pedals for Peace

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)- One pedal at a time the Baton Rouge community rode bikes on the morning Oct. 31 to spread the message of peace.

Pedal for Peace is an annual event coordinated by Councilman LaMont Cole and other city officials.

The bike ride symbolizes the community standing for peace in the Baton Rouge area.

“It shows the community is concerned about the violent crime that is taking place in our community,” Cole said. “We want to pedal for peace and pedal against it.”

Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome joined the bike ride to help spread peace.

“The fact that you see so many people out here early in the morning, speaks to the fact that peace is a priority for our community,” Broome said.

Pedal for Peace is a three mile bike ride starting from Shoppers Value Parking Lot to Howell Park located at 5509 Winbourne Ave.

Before the ride Baton Rouge Police Chief Murphy Paul said crime in Baton Rouge is down, but cases for domestic violence is up.
