Benefit supporting officers hit by drunk driver to be held in December

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – An event to support two officers who were hit by a drunk driver will be held in early December.

Sergeant Jason Martin and Officer Joe Carboni were seriously injured after being hit by a drunk driver on I-10 at College Drive in late August.

Ride for the Badge on Saturday, Dec. 4 at 9 a.m. Motorcycles, cars and trucks are welcome to participate in the route that begins at the Baton Rouge Harley-Davidson to the Hammond Harley-Davidson and back to Baton Rouge. To participate in the event, riders should arrive before the start time at Baton Rouge Harley Davidson.

When motorists arrive back, food will be prepared by the Denham Springs Marshal’s Office and TJ Ribs. A silent auction of items that have been donated by local businesses and vendors that are on-site will take place along with a 50/50 raffle.

100% of the proceeds will go to help the officers and their families. Donations are appreciated.
