BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Jolanda Evans, 31, was taken into custody around 5 p.m. following a stand-off on North Sherwood Forest Drive.

Police say she surrendered on her own. Baton Rouge police, along with her family, negotiated with her.

She is charged with two counts of aggravated second-degree battery and illegal use of a weapon.

Investigators believe that Evans fired gunshots within a residence. The victims, an infant and a teenager, were sent to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This is an ongoing investigation.

The Baton Rouge Police Department responded to a reported shooting at North Sherwood Forest Drive on Sunday afternoon where the scene remained active until after 4:30 p.m. Police confirmed that the victims are a 15-year-old and a 10-month-old.
