BATON ROUGE, La– (WVLA-WGMB) There was some heated discussion at the East Baton Rouge Metro Council meeting Wednesday as future development in one part of East Baton Rouge Parish has some residents concerned. Local residents of Siegen Terrace Development voiced their concerns around a developer who is pushing to put in office spaces around the neighborhood. Some residents fear the move could cause heavy traffic in the area.
The East Baton Roge Council gave the green light to re-zone 10 acres of land near the I-10 Siegen Lane exit. That piece of land is the site of future office spaces.
The decision to allow construction got heated during Wednesday night’s metro council meeting.
Neighbors are now concerned the new development could cause flooding.
The developers of the property will have to present one final plan for consideration before construction begins.
The City-Parish planning commission will then make the final decision.
