Baton Rouge restaurant celebrates Mother’s Day, hopes of boost in sales

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD)- On Mother’s Day 2020 many restaurants suffered finically on one of their biggest money-making days, due to the coronavirus.

Now, a year later, 25 percent of East Baton Rouge residents are vaccinated for the virus.

Manager David Jimenez at Bin 77 says business is boosting as more people get vaccinated.

“We couldn’t be more thankful, to have a booked up Mother’s Day lunch,” he said. “I can’t believe it’s been over a year. People are feeling more comfortable.”

Following Governor John Bel Edward’s loosened restrictions, Bin 77 is making wearing a face mask optional.

“We try to restrict smaller groups,” General Manager, Mitch Rodgers said. “It takes a little bit of time to get back and get readjusted.”

On Mother’s Day 2020 Bin 77 was only allowing outdoor seating. The restaurant was not close to receiving their regular Mother’s Day crowd.

For the Distefano family, Mother’s Day is just one out of the few outings they have had in the past year.

“We actually went back to church today,” Ashley Distefano, mother said. “Feels great today to be with my family. To go to church and be with my family outside enjoying brunch.”
