BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Several Baton Rouge restaurants will serve tasty, unique specials for Lent. Menus offer more than fish, and some places plan to cook up scallops, softshell crab, vegetarian dishes and more.
Ash Wednesday kicks off Lent — the 40-day season of fasting and prayer. This year, it runs from Wednesday, Feb. 22 to Thursday, April 6. Eating meat, such as chicken, beef and pork, is abstained from on Fridays.
In Louisiana, there’s no shortage of seafood recipes, especially when crawfish season is in full force. But if you’re itching for a more elevated dish on a Friday night, these restaurants could hit the spot.
