BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A veteran in the Baton Rouge area received a life-changing gift Tuesday.
Leading up to Veterans Day, Baton Rouge resident Sherra Rosner Perry joined more than 45 veterans and their families across the country in receiving a car from Progressive. This is a part of the Progressive Keys to Progress Initiative.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, about 40 percent of veterans live in rural areas where affordable transportation is limited, despite the need to drive for resources.
Progressive said they hope this will provide relief to those who serve this country, help them get back on the road and move forward in life.
“We’re proud to once again honor those who have served our country and provide relief in the form of reliable transportation to these deserving veterans and military-related organizations,” said Mike Sieger, Progressive Claims President in a statement. “We take a great deal of pride in our ability to continue with this incredible vehicle giveaway program despite the challenges of COVID-19 in hopes of improving the lives of military men and women experiencing tough circumstances.”
The vehicles, with insurance paid for six months by Enterprise, will be delivered to veterans, bringing the total number of donated vehicles through the Keys to Progress program to more than 800 since its start in 2013.
