BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Emergency officials responded to a deadly car crash in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Sept. 16, that left two people dead and a third injured.
Louisiana State Police identified the deceased as Stefan Valentine, 34, and Claudette Holmes, 45.
Emergency medical service officials said a head-on collision caused cars to overturn around 6 p.m.
Troopers said that the crash happened on LA 30 when Valentine, who was heading south in a 2004 Toyota 4-Runner, crossed over into the northbound lane and struck Holmes, who was driving a 2018 Mazda CX5.
A passenger in the Mazda was taken to the hospital, and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
State police said toxicology samples were taken from both drivers for testing.
