BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Captain William “C.J.” Sanders, 54, of the Baton Rouge Fire Department died after a battle with cancer on Sunday, Nov. 5.

The type of cancer Sanders developed is believed to have been caused by his work as a firefighter, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department. Sanders served with the Baton Rouge Fire Department for 25 years. The department said he was an active member of IAFF Local 557.

Funeral arrangements for Sanders have yet to be set.
