BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A Baton Rouge man is behind bars after an investigation by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation led to Demon Coleman, 46, of Baton Rouge being charged in connection with a shooting that happened on Saturday, July 8. EBRSO responded to the 10000 block of Alco Avenue to look into a report of shots fired. Deputies found 21 shell casings in the parking lot, according to the affidavit. During the investigation, they found out that a home in the 10000 block of Abington Avenue was also reportedly hit by a bullet. A window in the home was damaged.

The victim of the shooting told investigators that the owner of a 2004 Dodge Ram, identified as Coleman, discharged his weapon at three people including him. According to the affidavit, the victim said Coleman was angry about his truck having mechanical issues before he started yelling.

Deputies noted that Coleman was convicted of various crimes in 2017, including simple burglary.

He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Thursday, Oct. 5, and charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property and possession of firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies. No bond has been set for Coleman as of the publishing of this article.
