BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — It’s time to lace up your sneakers for a cause. Sponsored by Grant Construction Ethridge, Footprints Forever is holding its second annual race to celebrate and remember angel babies who did not see another birthday.

This year the race benefits Maddie’s Footprints Baton Rouge, a group helping families in the Greater Baton Rouge area who have experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth or loss of a child under one year of age by providing financial and emotional support.

Maddie’s Footprints was established in January 2010 in memory of Madeline Noelle McGrew. The organization helps lead families in the right direction when they are in need of information and/or counseling. They also offer families financial assistance for end-of-life expenses and/or medical expenses that can be overwhelming during their difficult time.

Lori McGrew, mother of Madeline, said after losing her daughter she wanted to help others navigate one of the most difficult times in their lives. Maddie’s Footprints has been working with bereaved families in Greater Baton Rouge and Acadiana for the last 14 years, reaching over 2,300 families and paying out over $1.25 million in financial assistance. They hope to continue that cause with proceeds from this year’s marathon.

The marathon is on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Pointe-Marie located at 14200 River Road, Baton Rouge, La. Races start at 7:30 a.m. with options to attend and register virtually.
