BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Baton Rouge military veteran got the surprise of a lifetime on Wednesday, Nov. 8 as a part of Progressive’s 11th annual Keys to Progress giveaway in partnership with Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Harikiain Cohen, of Baton Rouge, was one of many veterans and families across the United States that got keys to a new vehicle, according to a release from Progressive. In addition to the vehicle, Enterprise paid six months’ worth of insurance on the recipient’s behalf.
The event took place at Progressive Insurance in Baton Rouge at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to a news release from Progressive, the program offers veterans dependable transportation as they strive to get back on the road and move ahead in life.
“As we enter our 11th year of the Keys to Progress program, it is exciting to celebrate another significant milestone, having now provided over 1,000 vehicles and impacting the lives of so many veterans and their families,” said Tricia Griffith, CEO at Progressive. “At its core, the Keys to Progress vehicle giveaway program is just one way we celebrate our nation’s veterans, and these events are a strong source of pride for everyone who works at Progressive.”
The giveaway comes just days away from the celebration of Veteran’s Day on Friday, Nov. 11. A day that honors those who have served and those killed in our country’s wars over the years.
According to Progressive, over 1,000 vehicles have been donated through the program since 2013.
