BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Soulshine Kitchen & Bar, a soul food restaurant steps away from the university, closes its doors.

After its opening in July 2022, the restaurant served home-cooked meals and cocktails and hosted themed pop-up dinners.

“It’s been a wonderful, challenging and awesomely weird few years and it’s been our to share a little of our souls with you,” Soulshine Kitchen’s Facebook page post said. “It’s with a heavy heart that we’re announcing that we’ll be closing our doors here at Soulshine.”

The message told diners they haven’t seen the last of the restaurant, adding, “Wacky pop-ups, unique dining/bar experiences, showcasing local artists and musicians, bizarre cooking competitions and late night silliness are in our DNA.”

The owners said Brickyard South, a bar near 13th Gate, remains open.
