BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A body found in a canal Saturday afternoon has been identified as a missing elderly man from Baton Rouge.
The Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed a body was found in a canal near Tom Drive on Saturday, Oct. 7. Police said the man was identified as Joseph Kinchen, 74.
Kinchen was reported missing by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 1. The sheriff’s office said he was last seen leaving a business on Cortana Place and walking toward Tom Drive around 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 30.
Police said there were no signs of a homicide but are waiting for the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death. The police are investigating the incident.
