BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The BREC Highland Road Park Observatory will be hosting an event on Saturday for the partial solar eclipse.
The partial eclipse is expected to start at 10:30 a.m., with the maximum coverage occurring around noon when the sun is 50 degrees up. The Highland Road Park Observatory will have multiple telescopes for attendees to view the moon passing the sun.
People can visit the park for the 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. event on Oct. 14.
According to BREC, solar viewers will be available for purchase throughout the eclipse event on Oct. 14. Solar viewers are $2 plus tax. Park officials said that “anyone purchasing viewers be over the age of 12 and limit purchases to two viewers.”
