BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The president of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank will join the regional advisory council for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
President and CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank, Mike Manning, has joined the Region 6 FEMA Advisory Council. Members of the FEMA council consist of representatives of state and local governments who advise FEMA on emergency issues.
The responsibility of the council includes recognizing deficiencies in preparedness, protection, recovery, response, and mitigation activities.
Manning was selected during a time when having experience with disaster response was requested.
Manning has served in multiple local emergency response roles such as the Board Chairperson for the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) and the Chair for the Louisiana VOAD. Manning has also served on the front lines of emergency response during Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike, Ida, and more disasters around the state.
