BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation is asking for the public’s help looking into allegations of police misconduct.

Members of the now-disbanded Baton Rouge Police Department Street Crimes Unit are accused of using a local warehouse to torture people in custody during interrogations, including beatings and inappropriate strip searches.

On Friday, Sept. 22, the New Orleans FBI Field Office, the Civil Rights Division, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Louisiana issued a news release saying they’ve opened a federal investigation into the matter.

“Experienced prosecutors and agents are now reviewing the matter for potential federal violations,” the release reads.

Anyone with information about these allegations are asked to call the New Orleans FBI office at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or alert them online at tips.fbi.gov.
