BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Plans for next year’s Greater Baton Rouge State Fair have already begun. The fair will be from Oct. 24-Nov. 3, 2024.
Cliff Barton, president of the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair Corporation, said over 60,000 people attended the fair this year.
“I think the people were happy for us to return to where we belong and were happy to support us,” said Barton. “It was great to be back on the fairgrounds where we are highly visible and well known.”
Officials said over $4.6 million was raised towards the Baton Rouge State Fair Foundation and the proceeds will benefit the Baton Rouge area with grants, scholarships and sponsorships.
Barton said the volunteers and the members of the board of directors made the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair a success.
“I have to say a great big thank you to all the volunteers who come out each year and work the fair, said Barton. “They are the heart and soul of the fair. I have to recognize the members of the board of directors of the fair corporation who work year-round planning and operating the fair. They are the hardest working group of volunteers any organization could have.”
Live performers during the fair included The Dukes of Country, Rock Show NOLA, The Confidential Band, James Linden Hogg, Horation Mata y Sus Cadetes de Linares and The Chee-Weez.
The fair also held competitions including a hot dog eating contest, a pie baking competition, a pumpkin decorating contest and the sixth annual Lego Extravaganza, according to GBRSF.
