BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Habitat for Humanity Women Build kicks off on Saturday, Oct. 7. The Women Build will start with a Blessing of the Build at 8 a.m.

This year’s Women Build will continue a tradition of empowering women to provide their families with a safe, decent, and affordable home, according to Habitat for Humanity.

Whitney Breaux, Women Build partner, will be purchasing the home after its completion. It will be marking an important chapter in her life as he will become a first-time homeowner. Breaux is a mother of two and has spent years of living in an apartment complex, according to Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat for Humanity states, “She has been partnering with Habitat for approximately a year earning her “sweat equity” hours on Habitat build sites and at the Habitat ReStore and attending homeownership and financial literacy classes. Whitney is so thankful to the Women Build sponsors and volunteers for giving her the opportunity to achieve her dream.”

According to a release, volunteers will be continuing the build on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. during an 8–10-week process.

The home that will be built is located in the 1100 block of Progress Park in Baton Rouge.
