BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Hockey is returning to Baton Rouge and one player says it is the perfect investment.

“Hockey’s been growing a lot, especially in the south. Hockey made me a better athlete all round. I think opportunities are going to come for everybody. I think it’s going to be a great experience for all the kids and I hope that more people try it,” Ethan Webb said.

Webb is an LSU student and hockey player. He says to never underestimate the power of a team.

“These guys are going to come in and they’re going to work, they’re going to work every single day and they’re going to provide something that you need to come see. So, I think for anyone who’s doubting maybe the level, don’t doubt it,” Webb said.

Although, the Raising Cane’s River Center is gaining a plus one that does not stop others from enjoying their icy summer.

“Even though you still sweating, it’s a workout. Awh it feels great,” said Jessica Darrios.

Paul Claxton says with the extreme heat conditions, he had to bring his family.

“With this heat that we’ve been through the last couple of days, it’s nice to get in somewhere where you actually need like a little sweatshirt and spend some time and cool off,” Claxton says.

The skating rink ice monitor, Lizzie Wicker says they anticipate the hockey team to be in full swing by October.
