Investigators suspect arson to be cause of vacant building fire in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Baton Rouge fire investigators believe a vacant building fire was intentionally set on Sunday evening.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department said crews arrived at the 1200 block of Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive around 2:22 p.m. and encountered heavy smoke from the area but were able to stop it from spreading. Following an investigation, officials now believe the cause of the fire is arson.

No further details about suspects and motives were released but the fire department asks that anyone with information contact them at 225-389-2050 or Crime Stoppers.
