BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Another Baton Rouge police officer linked to the Brave Cave investigations was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison Monday, according to jail records.
Douglas Chutz was identified as the fourth BRPD officer facing charges in a Friday news conference from the police department. Officials from BRPD said he faced a malfeasance in office charge. He was booked into jail on the charge and a $15,000 bond was set.
Other officers arrested and charged in connection to misconduct at a “torture warehouse” including allegations of illegal strip-searches and beatings were identified as Deputy Chief Troy Lawrence Sr., Sgt. Jesse Barcelona and Cpl. Todd Thomas.
Police Chief Murphy Paul said officers planned a coverup to get rid of evidence after video on a body camera captured alleged misconduct.
