BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — LSU Police arrested a man accused of raping a student in her dorm on campus.

Police documents said officers responded to North Hall on Saturday, Sept. 9. The victim told investigators that she was sexually assaulted the same day and provided a detailed account.

Vishal Bhardwaj is accused of raping the woman for two minutes after she reportedly repeatedly said she did not want sex.

According to arrest documents, the victim called Bhardwaj on Monday with officers present. He reportedly apologized to the victim and said he thought she liked it. Investigators said Bhardwaj was “very inconsistent” and untruthful in their interview.

Bhardwaj was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with third-degree rape.
