BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An investigation into a reported shooting by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office ended with Damarrious Mckinney, 24, of Baton Rouge behind bars.
Investigators said the shooting happened on Monday, Oct. 16 at an apartment complex on Alco Avenue and left a 33-year-old man in critical condition. During the investigation, EBRSO learned that the man was outside in the parking lot revving the engine of his truck, according to the affidavit. He allegedly did not stop doing so which eventually led to Mckinney arguing with the man in the parking lot.
Mckinney is accused of opening fire hitting the man in the abdomen and buttocks, deputies said. A witness was able to positively identify Mckinney as the shooter via a DMV digital image.
The man who was shot told investigators Mckinney lived in the same apartment complex as his girlfriend. He is expected to survive his injuries.
The Baton Rouge man was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on Tuesday, Oct. 17, and charged with attempted second-degree murder. No bond has been set for Mckinney as of the publishing of this article.
