BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – East Baton Rouge Parish deputies arrested a man Saturday in connection with a stabbing that happened near a BREC park.

Michael Thompson, 35, was arrested and charged with domestic abuse battery after a woman said she had been stabbed multiple times with a screwdriver during an argument.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the 9300 block of Blackwater Road on Saturday, Nov. 4. An arrest warrant said deputies found the victim in bloody clothes and that she had numerous puncture wounds in her head.

The victim told deputies that she and Thompson had gotten into an argument when he stabbed her with a screwdriver, the arrest documents said. Thompson fled the scene but later returned.

When deputies spoke to Thompson, he said that the argument turned physical and alleged that the victim assaulted him first. Thompson said he took the screwdriver from the victim.

According to arrest documents, Thompson admitted that he began stabbing her out of anger after the two had separated.

The victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition and Thompson was arrested.
