BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A man arrested on aggravated arson charges is accused of trying to set his mother on fire Wednesday.
Cristhian Romero-Rodriguez, 26, was found to be in custody when Baton Rouge firefighters responded to the 16300 block of Old Hammond Highway around 2:35 p.m. According to the fire department, the victim told investigators that her son got “agitated” when she took a radio from him and he was reportedly under the influence of drugs.
Romero-Rodriguez reportedly poured a flammable liquid on the home’s wall and his mother before igniting. The Baton Rouge Fire Department said he self-extinguished the fire.
Deputies took him to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he was booked on aggravated arson.
