BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Zydeco’s inaugural season is underway and there is a lot of excitement already building on the hockey team’s return. The hockey franchise announced Wednesday, Nov. 1 that they are welcoming a new president to lead their team to the next level.

Don Lewis was named as the new president of the Baton Rouge Zydeco. According to a news release, Lewis brings a lot of experience as he has served in multiple leadership roles in the sports management market.

Most recently, he was a partner with the Auburn Doubledays Baseball Club in New York from 2020 to 2023.

“I am honored to join this dynamic and forward-thinking organization,” said Lewis. “Together, we will create a winning culture, engage our loyal fans, and foster an environment that makes the Zydeco franchise a staple in the Baton Rouge community.”

Owner of the Baton Rouge Zydeco Barry Soskin expressed his enthusiasm about Lewis becoming the president of the hockey franchise, saying, “Don’s experience and success in the sports industry are undeniable. His leadership will be a tremendous asset to the Baton Rouge Zydeco Hockey Franchise as we continue our mission to provide top-notch entertainment and unforgettable experiences for our fans.”

The Baton Rouge Zydeco will be back in action at the Raising Cane’s River Center 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 when they take on the Mississippi Sea Wolves.
