BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The first week of October is National Midwifery Week, which recognizes and celebrates midwives’ contributions to health care.
Located within Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge on O’Neal, Ochsner Family Birthing Center – Baton Rouge is the area’s only birthing center where patients have access to midwives, OB/GYNs and intensive care specialists in a single location, according to the hospital.
Health officials said midwives are licensed health care provider offering a range of services, from birth and newborn care to Pap tests and contraceptive care. They also help families make decision in their birthing process, and more.
