BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — One person died in connection with a shooting that took place at the Mallard Crossing Apartments on Greenwell Springs Road.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office was called to this location to investigate a report of shots fired around 2:40 a.m. EBRSO said deputies were told that there was “a caller who stated his vehicle was shot during an attempted vehicle burglary.”
Deputies arrived at the apartments and found that a man had been shot. He was armed at the time he was found and taken to a local hospital where he later died.
The investigation into this deadly shooting remains ongoing.
