BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — As the war between Israel and Hamas continues overseas, here on the home front a large group of people gathered near the Mall of Louisiana in support of the Palestinian community.

The protest took place on Bluebonnet Boulevard over the weekend.

People across the nation and overseas are rallying with signs and chants calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza as the conflict continues.

“We’re just trying to stick up for our country and our land. This is not a religious thing. This is about a human rights thing” said Sarah Saymeh.

“We want them to cease fire. This hasn’t been happening for just October 7th. It’s been happening for 75 years. We’ve been dealing with this. Our people have been dying” said Halla Manna.

Saturday marked two weeks since Hamas militants attacked Israel, killing hundreds of people and taking hostages.
