BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A new memorial was introduced on LSU’s campus the morning of Friday, Sept. 22.

The Tiger Walk Memorial will be unveiled at a ceremony starting at 10:30 a.m. The memorial will be located at the top of Victory Hill. Organizers said, “The Tiger Walk Memorial was built in memory of Ruffin Rodrigue, the late owner and dreamer behind the Ruffino’s restaurants and former LSU football player.” The former restaurant owner died in 2020. Rodrigue suited up for LSU from 1986 to 1989.

Megan Klock, Director of Operations at Ruffino’s, said, “Ruffin never missed a walk down Victory Hill, so we decided it was the perfect place to honor his legacy. When Ruffin died, we knew we wanted to find a way to honor him and the impact he left on so many, so what better place than where it all began? Ruffin was a dear friend of mine, so this memorial holds a special place in my heart, as I’m sure it does for many others. I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to help see this project through, and I can’t wait for the big reveal.”

For those that want to attend Friday’s ceremony, it will happen in the vicinity of the Cox Academic Center for Athletes.
