BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A National Rent Report from Zumper revealed that Baton Rouge ranked as one of the most expensive cities in the U.S. to rent one and two-bedroom units.

To find the data, Zumper looked at rental data from over one million active listings across the country. According to Zumper, the report covered 100 cities nationwide.

According to a study from Zumper, Baton Rouge checks in as the 85th most expensive city to rent in the U.S. The price of one-bedroom units in the capital city increased by 4.3% ($960), while two-bedroom units decreased by 4.7% ($1,010).

As a comparison, the national average for a one-bedroom apartment is $1,505 and a two-bedroom apartment is $1,862, according to the study.

According to the study, Baton Rouge was among one of the top risers in rent in October 2023, having an average price for a one-bedroom apartment costing $960. Anchorage, Ak., New Haven, Ct. and Des Moines, Ia. were the only cities above Baton Rouge to have a higher increase during October.
