BAYOU SORREL, La. (BRPROUD) — A curfew is now in place until “further notice” for Bayou Sorrel Bridge after a barge collision Friday afternoon.

Parish officials said the curfew placed by the Coast Guard will close the bridge to traffic.

“Until permanent repairs are complete, the bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic daily from 9:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until noon to allow marine traffic to pass,” said DOTD.

The bridge shut down on Friday afternoon after a barge reportedly struck it, leaving the bridge stuck in the open position, according to Iberville Parish officials. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development had the bridge closed for several hours while inspections were conducted.
